Kayla Wittmann is no longer the 6-year-old girl whose childhood was stolen by a serial pedophile.

At 26, the Cohoes woman manages a bank branch, is married and is raising a young son.

But when she learned Louis VanWie, 74, the sexual predator who repeatedly abused her and admitted molesting more than 100 other children, could be released from prison before the end of the year, her stomach dropped.

“I was actually in the car and had to pull over and sit there and let it all kind of sink in a little bit,” Wittman said in a phone interview Tuesday. “I just never expected him to get out.”
