Two alleged victims of an upstate pedophile who admitted to police that he abused hundreds of kids over four decades are livid over his pending release from prison and want the state attorney general to keep him locked up.

Louis VanWie, now 74, is due to be conditionally released as early as Thursday after serving 20 years of a maximum 30-year sentence.

Desperate to keep him off the streets, Gary Greenberg and Kayla Wittman, two alleged victims, joined advocates recently in sending a letter to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. They asked AG to seek a civil confinement order to lock VanWie up in a mental hospital. In a return letter, the AG’s office said there’s little it can do because it didn’t receive a referral from the Office of Mental Health, which sources said didn’t find VanWie met the confinement criteria.
